ICONIC Honolulu beta (https://theiconic.app) is a location-based dating PWA for adults 18+ in Honolulu. This notice explains what we collect and why. We wrote it from the product, not from another app’s policy.
We operate a Honolulu beta. We do not currently run a separate EU/UK GDPR program. If you are in California, you can ask us what we hold and ask us to delete it using Settings → Delete account. We do not sell personal information.
Email, username, display name, age, password hash, photos, profile text (bio, tribes, looking for, health-loop fields you choose to add), XP, streak, and tier. Demo accounts on the beta exist so testers can try the map.
If you use Now Mode, the browser may share GPS. We store a neighborhood-level Fog of War blob, not a house pin. Optional controls include Ghost Mode, Location Randomiser (Ultimate), Hide my distance, and Incognito grid (Ultimate). Mutual “I’m nearby” or a Meetup Handshake can tighten the blob. We do not show your exact coordinates on another person’s map.
Messages, voice notes, album photos, reports, blocks, Meetup Handshake, Safety Pulse trusted contacts, and (if you opt in) Safety Pulse pings. Outgoing chat and profile media may be watermarked. Freeze locks the account without deleting it. Delete account removes your profile and the messages you sent.
Session cookie (sign-in), SFW-shell cookie, accent-color cookie, and the anonymous 18+ birth-year cookie for /browse. Boss Mode PIN and Face lock stay on this device where the browser allows it.
Hosting and database run on Render (web, realtime, Postgres, Redis). Map tiles come from CARTO / OpenStreetMap. If Twilio or Resend keys are configured, Safety Pulse can send SMS or email to people you listed as trusted contacts. Until those keys exist, pings are private links only.
We keep account and location data while the account is open. Frozen accounts stay locked. Deleted accounts are removed from Discover, chat send history, and the live map. Safety Pulse links use a token; we do not put the other person’s identity or an exact pin in those pings.
Vanilla Mode, SFW shell, Ghost, Hide my distance, blocks, reports, freeze, and delete are in Settings. You can also stop sharing location by leaving Now Mode / turning Ghost on. Questions: use in-app report, or the contact path on https://theiconic.app.
